Kia ora. This term, one of the topics I have been learning about is spelling. At the start of the term I didn’t feel confident in myself. After we have been doing spelling for a while I got more confident in myself.  We write our spelling words in our tuhituhi book and we search for the meaning of them and it helps me remember them. Every day we do a different activity with our spelling words, which also helps me to remember them. Now I’m more confident I am getting so much better. When I was not that good I was getting 4/10. Now I’m getting 8/10.

Weekly Reflection

One thing I really enjoyed this week was kapapa mauta. sanding the patu. Why do we sand the patu ? To smooth it and shape.
A challenge I faced this week was  math because I still don’t understand it yet. What about it don’t you understand? I don’t understand how to do math, but it is getting easier the more I learn.

Something I felt proud of this week is the Oxford test because i got more right than last time.

Next week, I want to get better at reading.

If I could change one thing about this week, it would be kaupapa matua. More things about patu like more making and drawing.

Bone carving

Bone carving

the symbol I chose was a whale tail

I am making it for my mum

first I designed my carving on paper next I used modeling clay to practice the way it to be

then I used real clay to make my bone carving necklace.

I am going to make a  hole in my carving and put the string thought

then I let my clay  dry.

what I enjoyed was making my bone carving with my friend.

I found challenging was also making the bone carving.
